Kaspa is an open source, decentralized Layer-1 project based on Proof of Work (PoW). It employs the blockDAG architecture which allows rapid block rates and enables effective solo-mining at lower hashrates. Kaspa's official website states that the project was launched in November 2021. There was no pre-mining, no pre-sale, and no token pre-allocation. It is 100% decentralized, open-source, and community managed. Total supply of Kaspa is 28.7 Billion coins with an emission schedule that halves once per year via monthly reductions by a factor of (1/2)^(1/12). Kaspa is based on the kHeavyHash algorithm and can be mined through GPU, FPGA and ASIC mining equipment.
